Welcome back to a full week of learning! I hope you all had a pleasant “mini” vacation with the beautiful weather we had this past week. Now, let’s discuss the upcoming events of this week.
Share Topic

Spelling This Week
Spelling lists and spelling groups are back this week. Please look for a new list in your child’s folder this week. Spelling homework will be due on Wednesday. In addition to the home-work, please practice the words with your child. The regular words follow a spelling rule that children should learn. Muscle or red words can only be learned through repeated practice since they don’t follow any regular spelling rules. Extra time spent on these words will help to your child learn both the words and the rule behind the words.
October Book Orders
The October book orders have arrived and have been handed out. November’s book order will be handed out on Friday, November 2nd. They will be due back to school on Monday, November 12th.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
It was nice to meet with you last Wednesday and discuss your child. If we didn’t get a chance to talk, please write me a note or call me to set up a new appointment. Let’s keep the lines of communication open this year.
Interviews for my Maternity Leave
On Tuesday of last week, David Hartnett, Sue Sutton and I interviewed three candidates for my maternity leave. We agreed on one candidate who has been substituting within our district. We are pleased to announce that Honi Barrett from Middlesex will be taking over when I am on leave. Honi and I will be in contact to go over curriculum expectations when I am gone. In the beginning of November, she will come into the classroom for a few days while I am still teaching to get the feel of the class and the routines. During those days, she will shadow me in the classroom and then, later in November, take over when I am finished.
