Holiday Season Food Reminder!
As the holiday approaches there is always an increase in the amount of food and gifts brought into school.  I would like to remind everyone that we are totally NUT FREE in the primary unit (grades PreK-2).  In addition, we are moving slowly to being a NUT FREE everywhere in order to make school a safe place for every student, so please do not bring any nut or nut-related products into any part of the building. If you have any questions about the safety of a recipe or food product, please contact me.  Thank you and have a safe holiday!  ~ Martha Israel, School Nurse, 223-5429 x 303, marthai@rumney.org

Do You Now Qualify for Free or Reduced Meals?
A reminder to families that if their job situations and income change, that you may qualify for the free and reduced breakfast and lunch program.  Check with Deb Prescott in the kitchen if you have any questions or to get a form.

2009-2010 Rumney School Entrance
We are currently budgeting for the 2009-2010 school year, and we need to get an accurate count of the number of new students who will be entering Rumney in the fall.  Please notify us if you are a Middlesex resident and have a child who:
a.) Is 5 years old by September 1, 2009 and will be entering Kindergarten
b.) Is 3 years old and you would like to be considered for Pre-Kindergarten (final entrance decision is based on screening in the spring).
NOTE: This is NOT registration, which will be scheduled for both Pre-K and K in late-winter, early-spring.

We DO assume that if your child is currently enrolled in the Rumney Pre-K and will be 5 by 9/1/09, that he/she will be attending the Rumney Kindergarten.  Please contact the school (email:  office@rumney.org or 223-5429, ext. 0) to let us know about your child.  Also, please spread the word!  If you know of anyone in town who may be a first-time school parent, please tell them to contact us.  Thank you!

Candy Cane Collection
Jim Lamell, driver for Rumney's U7 bus, is again collecting candy canes to donate to the Montpelier Fire Department's effort to give out candy canes to local children this holiday season.  The kids who ride U7 are very excited to do the collection again and are starting to build up Jim's collection. If you would like to donate some candy canes, please either give them to Jim, if he is your child's driver, or send them to the school office and we will get them to Jim.  Thank you!

Rumney Wildcat Store
The new Rumney Wildcat Store is really great!  It was open in the lobby today (Friday) from 8:30-9:00 a.m. and during lunch/recess from 12:00-1:00 p.m. The store will be open every other Friday (next time will be 12/5).  Come on in and redeem your Innisbrook tokens (cash also accepted--items for as little as $0.25) or do a little holiday shopping.  Proceeds benefit the PTO.
